Top talent from councils all around the country have descended on Coventry to take part in a national challenge with a prize worth £10,000.

The Local Government Challenge sees two teams battle it out during the day in an Apprentice style challenge. Coventry is the first place to host one of the five national challenges today, Tuesday 19 January. The two teams will be focusing their attentions on how to improve voter turn out at elections in the Radford and Longford wards and will present their conclusions to a judging panel at the end of the day.

Leader of Coventry City Council, Councillor Ken Taylor said, "We are pleased to be hosting the first of the national challenges and welcome the two teams to Coventry. We are looking forward to seeing the ideas that the teams present to us."

There will be two teams of five and the eventual winner of the LGA organised competition will receive the first ever prestigious Bruce-Lockhart Scholarship worth up to £10,000.
